Education Services

Jackamans is proud to be one of the leading Suffolk firms advising on Academy conversions. Our experts deal with all aspects of the conversion process to smooth the way for you. Our team is made up of specialists from the firm’s Corporate, Commercial, Commercial Property and Employment departments and they draw on their own substantial experience of the education sector. Indeed, many of our team either have been, or still are, school governors themselves.

We have acted for many primary and secondary schools converting to Academy status. Each school is unique and there are varying challenges that arise both prior to, and following the conversion process. Jackamans has acted for many different types of educational establishment including Church of England and Roman Catholic schools and school pyramids.

In particular, our team is able to assist with the following:

Assisting governing bodies in making the decision to convert, including attending governing body meetings.

Undertaking the incorporation of the Academy trust, including preparation of all relevant documents.

Advising on the TUPE process, playing a full part in staff consultation meetings where required and advising on employment and HR issues post-conversion.

Dealing with the transfer or lease of land and buildings, and the transfer of other school property, to the Academy trust.

Negotiating the assignment or renewal of the school’s existing contracts.

Providing on-going, day-to-day advice and assistance with the post-conversion management of the Academy.

This is not an exhaustive list of our services in this area. Instead, our team will take time to meet with and get to know all concerned at the school to ensure that the service we provide is the correct, tailored service that is required by that particular school.

Our clients have praised our professional approach. At Jackamans, we are proud that we are big enough to specialise but small enough to care.

Our Academy team is led by Paul McGrath. To arrange an initial, no obligation, consultation to discuss your Academy conversion, please contact Paul by telephone on 01473 255591 or by email at paul.mcgrath@jackamans.co.uk.
